Happy Birthday, Grandma!

video
Good thing I already translated it for you.

video

Here I asked him if he wanted to try again, and he said, "No thank you, Mommio." It kills me how he says, "Oh" before he says anything in either video, like I caught him off-guard. One of us probably does that.

Last year at this time we were in FL with Grandma for her birthday. To me, he looks the same, even though I know he's changed a ton. For one he doesn't have those pudgy cute baby feet anymore. He has huge stinky man feet. For an almost-2-year-old, anyway.

Woah. Technology.

We had the "big" 20 week ultrasound today. My new doctor uses a 3D (one company calls it 4D, I think the 4th dimension is time, as they gave us a 45 minute long DVD. You'll receive an Evite for the DVD viewing party. Awwww, it has two kidneys! And a bladder!") ultrasound as standard operating procedure. I'd heard that babies this little look weird on the 3D machine, but I didn't find it too terribly creepy.

Little Man hid his manly parts from us at his 20 week ultrasound, so I hopped #2 up on apple juice and Diet Coke before this appointment. Success!

The money shot (I'm sorry, child, I will remove this from the internet if you ever want to run for public office):The ultrasound technician said she is 100% confident that #2 is a boy. And that the doctor used to keep track of her accuracy but when she'd predicted gender correctly 5000 out of 5000 times, he stopped counting.
Here's his cute little face and a fist, and what I'm guessing are knees (as soon as I saw the knees I thought, "Ah! My knees!" and wondered if this one will be weird about knees like Little Man is).
And a slightly less cute profile
Here are the best of the 3D face shots we got. He has his hands up by his face.
And an added bonus: a Skeletor picture. Ready for Halloween!
It looks like he smuggled a turkey leg in there, as if I don't feed him enough.

(PS, does Google's Picassa photo editor confuse the heck out of anyone else? I specifically saved the cropped versions to a different folder to crop out my full name, date of birth, and social security #, but then then weren't edited in the new folder. But they were edited in the original folder. But those file names had my social in them. So I had to edit them all twice.)

Go Army, Beat Navy!

We took a weekend jaunt to Annapolis, home of the U.S. Naval Academy, for the Army/ Navy basketball games. My cousin plays for Army and we took this as an excuse to visit beautiful Annapolis. Turns out it's cold and windy in Annapolis in February, but still pretty.

Our friends J and S from Richmond met us there.

We counted ourselves victorious before the game even began, as we got a good parking space on campus (on "base"? on "post"?).There's my famous cousin, #40, looking all athletic and stuff.

It's important to have pretty hair for basketball.Little Man really enjoyed himself. We skipped the men's game in favor of naptime which I think was a good decision on many levels. While the women's teams were warming up, LM was literally jumping up and down saying, "Play?! Play?! Little Man play beeketball?!" Of course he doesn't call himself Little Man, but you get the idea.

We're ready for action.
So is the team. "Number 40, at 5'8", playing guard, it's Laura B!"In action. I missed her 3 point shot, of course, but it was most fun to watch her defend.Army Women won the game.
And look, Laura's parents (my cousin Susie and her hubby) and one of her brothers was down for the game! I swear we're related. Hey God, what happened to MY athletic ability?
And in case you had any doubt that he was mine, here is my 1-year-old eating crab legs.

Belly Laugh

The belly laugh kills me.

Other Cell Phone Pictures

Now that I've figured out how to get the pictures off the phone, here are some others for your viewing pleasure. In (approximately) chronological order.

We visited New Orleans before going to an LSU football game in the fall of 2007. Here we are at Pat O'Brien's with a Hurricane.
In the car, I think on the way to Christmas 2007.
Swimming pool, summer 2008. He liked the sand much better than the water.
The van looking rather sporty.

Sliding

After a quick spring stroller tune-up (thanks, Daddio!), Little Man, Daisy and I got out of the house for a little while this afternoon. We wound up on the playground of a nearby neighborhood.

Little Man climbed up, and I expected that like last time we were at the playground, he'd come down the 4-foot high slide holding my hand. But instead he just kept climbing up and up, until I had already chosen what path I'd take to go up there and rescue him when he finally looked down.

But instead, he got to the top of the 7-foot high twisty slide, sat down, and without hesitation, slid down.

I only had my cell phone with me, not the big camera.

I don't need no stinkin' help from Mommy

We are in Big Trouble

I bought eggs today - we ran out last weekend. Daddio and I are having grocery store sushi for dinner tonight, so Little Man had scrambled eggs.

4.

Little Man ate 4 scrambled eggs for dinner. And carrots. Then, he spotted the Cheerios (which we also ran out of last weekend.) Now he's walking around snacking on Cheerios.

What will happen when he's 14? We're in big trouble.

Uh-Oh Spaghetti-O's

Spaghetti-O's remind me of watching The Price is Right and eating lunch at my grandparents' house. The Price is Right seems so old-fashioned that I actually thought these were all reruns until a few of my college friends were on the show (I know not one, but two people who won on The Price is Right).

Tonight for dinner Little Man had his first Spaghetti O's. I think he liked them.
If Blogger would cooperate, you'd see a video of LM saying "Spaghetti O's" and thinking it was hilarious, then laughing the best belly laugh. But Blogger isn't cooperating. Maybe another day.

Get it While the Gettin's Good

Yesterday and today we took advantage of the warmth and sunshine. This afternoon we had friends M. and I. over.

M's favorite game: throwing the leaves when I counted to 3 and having me take a picture. The little boys didn't quite get it.
Daisy tried to get in on the action.
Here I asked I. to say "hi." Isn't he cute when he says "hi"?
Daisy and Little Man get along very well outside, where nobody can get cornered.
Unless you count getting pinned to the fence by dog butt "cornered."

TGIF Randomness

Last night Little Man and I were saying grace before dinner. This always amuses me because LM will mutter along with whoever is praying, and he gets really excited at Amen. I my grace I said something about Daddy (who wasn't home at the time). After we said "amen" Little Man said, "Daddy workin'?" Seems that's been a common refrain around here lately.

It turns out Little Man is susceptible to marketing like I am. We were just running, remember his new favorite game, and as we ran by the TV he suddenly needed an egg. It was showing an Eggland's Best commercial (but how do they make the eggs have less choleserol?). He did eat most of the egg. We go through about 18 eggs per week around here.

On the potty front: We're going backwards. He will tell me if he has to poop. But when I ask him if he wants to sit on the potty, he says NO! And if we don't ask him, and instead just put him there, he cries and whines and says "done" the whole time. Of course today we were in the car and he said, "Poop. Potty?" I think he was just saying it 'cause he knew it wouldn't work out. I did explain that he'd get Chap Stik if he goes potty (taking a trick from my daycare provider when I was potty training), and he is excited about that, but not excited enough to sit on the potty.

Earlier this evening I was justifying watching Wheel of Fortune with LM because it teaches him letters. It's now Jeopardy time, and he's yelling at the TV, "A! No, E! E!"

Weekend plans - get LM a haircut and go to the Once Upon a Child bag sale. Those plans will take us 'til about 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, after which time we'll make new plans. It's supposed to be 50 degrees out this weekend!

We're Back!

The desktop has internet again. Instead of having Comcast come out here I bought a USB wireless thingie at Circuit City (RIP) yesterday. Even though the associate told me the internal card works better, I'm lazy, and so we have interent just one day later instead of weeks later.

First of all, why we didn't have internet.
We moved the desk into the kitchen. The brick red rug from the office looks nice with the yellow walls, actually. Please pay no attention to the baby blue countertops. Shudder. The "pantry" shelves used to be where the desk is now.

We did it so we could turn the office/ living room into a playroom. I got that cute dog rug from Pottery Barn Kids on clearance, and with a gift card. Next project: get rid of some upstairs books so these books can be cleared off to make space for kids' books. Or just buy a new bookshelf.
A few other photo tidbits, since I don't think you come here to see pictures of my home:

Three Puppies.

His lotion was down here so I had to bring him down naked after a bath one night. I'd say he's comfortable with his body, wouldn't you?

PS - Now that I have pictures, I've gotten lazy about using my words. This morning before breakfast I was asking him what he's hungry for. He usually just repeats, "Hungry for!" when I ask him this. Not today. Today he said, with no hesitation, "Cookies."

It Has Begun

The Pregnancy Stupidity (Pregnesia, as my 3-Day friend Trish calls it) has begun. I don't remember all the things I forgot when I was pregnant with Little Man, but I do know that I left my iPod in a rental car (you're welcome Enterprise employee), left my denim jacket somewhere, and left my debit card at a Hardees. That one was especially fun because when I called the bank to have it cancelled, they cancelled T's card instead and a restaurant employee tried to confiscate his card as "stolen" next time he tried to use it.

I have been forbidden from removing my [new] iPod from my house or car for the duration of this pregnancy. But yesterday I left Little Man's milk out to rot TWICE. After breakfast I didn't realize it was sitting out until dinner, and after dinner (this is fresh milk now, not the warm breakfast milk) I left it out until breakfast this morning. I also lost my checkbook briefly this morning, but I knew it hadn't left the house and I found it pretty quickly.

Only time will tell what I'll lose this time around. My money is on a cell phones. Place your bets.
