I did some shopping for #2 last night and realized I haven't mentioned him on the blog in a while.
Here's where we are in our #2 preparations:
1. The room: We're converting our guest room into Little Man's room. It will continue to be our guest room as well, which means that Little Man will be in a queen bed. We haven't moved him yet but he knows it will be his room. I asked him where he wanted to read the other night and he said, "NEW bed." We need to rearrange the furniture, hang pictures, and the task I'm dreading - empty the closet. My kingdom for a basement. Then we can move LM's clothes over and bring down our 0-3 month clothes (and other baby gear) from the attic.
I'll post pictures of LM's new room once it's done. Please brace yourself for green. It is GREEN.
2. The stuff: One of the advantages to a 2nd child, especially a 2nd boy, is that we don't need much new stuff. However, in the last week I've had 2 baby showers - one non-surprise in my team meeting at work, and one surprise at a friend's house with family and friends. We got new baby clothes, a few toys (which I hid so they won't be claimed by Little Man like the sock monkey was), and other essentials (all new bottles, because LM's bottles were full of EVIL BPA plastics). We have gift cards for other essentials, the biggest of which is a double stroller. I have it picked out but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Last night I had fun spending some gift card money on new pacifiers, hangers, a Sesame Street shirt (I had to buy it, it was on clearance), and a few other things. I also got Little Man a big brother gift for when the baby arrives. I have read in several places to get the toddler a gift "from the baby" so toddler doesn't feel left out. Back in March I got a stuffed animal for LM to give to the new baby (it's also hidden).
3. The baby: I have my 34 week appointment tomorrow. #2 has been measuring just right the whole time with no problems, so I anticipate more of the same tomorrow. By some genetic fluke it appears that T. and I make soccer players. We always said Little Man would be a soccer player because of how hard he kicked, and the nursery nurses told T. he was the wiggliest newborn ever. Now kicking a ball is his favorite activity (and in my expert opinion, he's very good at it). #2 is at least as active as Little Man was. I'm equally split between "Only 6 more weeks!" and "6 MORE weeks?!"
I owe you some pictures - I'll try to get Little Man to stand still one day soon.

ASTONISHINGLY GREEN
Looking forward to pictures! We gave T a gift from C at the hospital. We were also told it is a good idea to have the toddler be at the hospital when it is time to bring baby home and ride home with you. I guess to help them understand and participate in the process and to feel less invaded upon when you suddenly show up at home with the baby.
6 more weeks...I feel like that was the SLOWEST time for me. Hopefully it is just the speed you need.
Yay- so many happy changes!! Shopping for #2, I found, more enjoyable since I knew what I needed and wasn't just going on what friends suggested.... Can't wait to see pics of #1 and #2!!
ooh i can't wait to see the GREEN!! and good call on sibling gifts - another thing to add to my baby-preparedness checklist! (i do already have matching coming home outfits for Q and roo-2 if it's a boy, and a coordinating dress if roo-2 is a girl.) but presents are even more fun!!
34 weeks - wow!!
I'm getting so excited for you!
I'm thinking we should get together before the baby comes for a quick lunch when you're in the city.
do-able you think??
Oh I am totally identifying with your number three there. Oi. I realize this kid must have more room to move and I guess the fact that she's moving so much means maybe she's not as big as she could be but good grief - settle DOWN in there!!
I decided we would buy at least a new sleeper for the baby to wear home from the hospital. When I pulled out most of the onesies and such the other day, I discovered they were pretty darn stained and told LJ we won't be able to take this kid out in public because she won't have anything truly clean to wear. No baby showers planned for us that I know of either. Bummer. :(
